About
So you’ve run 26.2 miles. What an accomplishment! You even paid money to do so; yes, you’re half crazy, but you did it! You cross the finish line and stagger toward a smiling volunteer who holds a medal to put around your neck in commemoration of this special moment. Stop the camera! Are you perhaps just a wee bit curious what this medal looks like before you reach that precious point in time?
Well, WE are! Most would agree it’s cool having sharp-looking medals, many of which are specially designed to match the character and area of the event. We all want something unobtrusive to hang on our wall to remember we ran a full marathon, right? Absolutely. But the prize is sometimes not what we had anticipated. Have you run a marathon, being elated you finished, but less than happy with the medal? Let’s face it: receiving a medal that was purchased generically from a trophy shop doesn’t make for fond memories in a display case. Some directors want to keep their events reasonably priced. Well and good, just don’t sacrifice the medal.
We are the first “one-stop” website that features the previous marathon finisher medal photos. You can tell much from the previous year’s design. You can quote me on this, “each marathon has a personality” and we exist so you can get a first hand glimpse
Directors, please refer to our Submission page for details, but we will gladly take the pics for you or you can take pics (without flash) in good lighting on white preferably or scan the medal. If you have any questions or suggestions please refer to our contact email. We do this for the love of keeping fit, and as a service to the running community.
About The Webmaster
This site is all about achieving the ultimate challenge, running marathons. My name is Paul Gentry and I’ve run 25 full marathons, a relative rookie to many, but less than 1 percent of 300,000,000 in the U.S. run marathons, so I sleep well at night! I am a Marathon Maniac and I have a blog of all my marathons with pictures if you want to figure out what makes me tick, good luck with that!
My goal is to provide you quality pics of every medal from every event from every state in the U.S. and eventually the world. Marathoners tend to have high personal standards in every aspect of their lives, and this site is no exception. We can’t do this alone though, so I’d appreciate any assistance any of you fellow runners can provide.
